Meet The Photographer

Hi, I’m Shannon! I’m a young, freelance photographer in the Seattle area. I’m a wife to a hilarious, cheesy husband, and a mommy to a beautiful baby girl.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to be an artist. For the longest time, I thought that would mean drawing and painting. Until one day, The light was streaming into the window just right and I wished I could take a picture. That was the day I decided to become a photographer.

When I was in the 4th grade, I asked my mom so many times for my very own disposable camera so that I could take my own pictures. When I finally got one, I took it on vacation to take pictures of my cousins. Then when I was

in middle school, I asked for a digital camera for my birthday. I took that camera everywhere I went and used it until it broke. Then high school came and I took a couple photography classes. I’ve always had a love for cameras and taking photos, but it wasn’t until a few months after graduating from high school that I took it seriously and started wanting to create art through photography.

So after that day, when the light was just right and I wanted to capture that moment forever, I couldn’t stop thinking about photography. How many other moments was I missing out on that should be frozen for all to see? So I signed up for some photography classes at a local college.

I started taking photos of friends and family, but I wasn’t shooting nearly often enough to really improve much. Then a friend hired me for her engagement photos, which later resulted in me shooting her wedding! To prepare for that wedding, I was studying anything and everything I could find on the internet about photography, especially wedding photography. I went out and started shooting everything and everyone. The last thing I wanted to do was ruin my friend’s wedding day by being under prepared. By the

time the date had rolled around, I was as prepared as I could be. I learned so much from that day and I’ve grown more with every session since.

I challenge myself to learn new things with each photo I take. We live in a busy world and not everyone gets to become what they always wanted to be when they grew up, so I feel very blessed that I get to pursue my artistic dreams as a young adult!
